Church As Entertainment (The White Horse Inn)

For some time I have encouraged people to listen to The White Horse Inn. The show features a discussion of Reformation Theology involving viewpoints of the Reformed, Reformed Baptist and Lutheran perspectives. The radio program is not available in our area but easily accessible via the internet at http://www.whitehorseinn.org/

Someone has done a good job taking the audio of the program and combining it with video clips concerning entertainment in the church. Additionally there is a good historical discussion about how things came to pass with names we will all recognize: Jonathan Edwards, George Whitfield, Charles Finney, and Amy Semple McPherson. As these figures of American church history are discussed analysis is also provided from secular sources: Neil Postman and his book "Amusing Ourselves to Death" and Neil Gabler and his book, "Life the Movie." What's intriguing is that these secular authors are more aware of the dangers of church as entertainment than most evangelicals.

There are five segments to this presentation totally about 45 minutes.
