Ouch!

After a couple weeks of absolutely beautiful weather this was bound to happen.

The forecast was for temperatures around 29F but at 6:30 AM our thermometer showed 25F. Who knows, maybe they will recover to their former glory. Otherwise we'll just have to wait until next year.

I'm still waiting to put in my garden for this very reason. My next door neighbor has lived in the area all of his life (except when he was in Europe from July 1944 - 1945 until the end of World War II). He says that he has seen a killing frost as late as July.

Those tulips look so sad. Our tulips survived - our frost must not have been as severe.

They did perk up a little bit today. The ones that were lying on the ground lifted about halfway up and the flowers have opened completely (almost beyond normal). We enjoyed them while they lasted.
