The Importance of Character - The Acton Institute

To the right I have a link to the Acton Institute. If you've never visited the site, you should. Acton is devoted to free-market thinking and economic policy as informed by Judeo-Christian ethics and worldview. Based in Grand Rapids, Michigan it draws people from many different Christan traditions who write, think, lecture and teach about the nexus between faith and free-market economics.

Recently I was sent a link to an important lecture: The Importance of Character in a Free Society, by my friend, Dr. Lawrence W. Reed. Given the current economic turmoil of our nation it is easy to speculate about what went wrong and who is to blame. Watch this lecture and then take a look in the mirror: the answer might be closer than you think.

Dave this is one of the very best sites I know of relating to liberty & religion. I have been receiving information from them for more than a few years now. One of these days I am going to attend a lecture they have in Grand Rapids, Mi. It is noteworthy that not long ago the Acton Institute was sabotaged, an attempt was made to destroy their email file (a sign of their importance). This affected me also, someone tried to hack my computer. I lay the attempt on me either from my email with the Acton Inst. or a duel I had with a reporter of the news paper in Toronto, Ca. My son who is employed in computer security systems claims the only thing that prevented the destruction of my hard drive was my IMac.
You are right, the Acton Institute is excellent.

Ken,

A few years ago I attended a lecture to hear Marvin Olasky. It was very good. I really appreciate their blending of free market economics and theology. Perhaps its their use of natural law that I find refreshing. Anyway, glad that you know about them. One of these days I'd like to attend their 'university.'
